Byron Yoga Lounge Bali Retreat
November 2017 dates TBA
The ‘lumbung’ or rice granary is part of Bali’s unique cultural heritage. Traditionally used to store rice under the protection of the goddess Dewi Sri, lumbungs are now seldom used because farming techniques have changed. Several disused lumbungs were discovered averaging 80 years old, and with minor adjustments adapted them into simple but charming accommodation. The cottages are set in the cool mountain air where fans / air-con are unnecessary.
Guests enjoy spectacular sunsets and stunning panoramas of the rice fields and coast line in the distance while listening to the calming and peaceful sound of the mini waterfalls which run through the property and around some of the accommodation options. The compound is planted with an array of tropical fruits and herbs which attract multi-coloured butterflies and dragonflies….
Airport pick ups are available from Denpasar airport or from Ubud. The retreat starts in the afternoon of with a Restorative Class and Introduction to Pranayama at 4pm. I suggest if you are making your own way to Munduk that you arrive a day earlier and pay an extra nights accommodation so you are ready to start the retreat refreshed and rested.

Seasons (from Bali Trip advisor) . January is very rainy – short sharp showers and delightful nighttime down pours – perfect for sleeping and relaxing! Bring rain gear and warm clothes as it does get cooler at night time in the mountains. Monsoon is a great time to visit Munduk as the view of the clouds coming over the mountains is magical!
North Bali and especially Munduk Village are famous for beautiful scenery and a variety of fascinating walks and treks. Munduk is surrounded by tropical rainforest, rice terraces and farms producing traditional commodities. Visitors are welcome to explore this delightful microcosm of traditional Bali. The Munduk area with its unique nature and very agreeable temperatures (20-25 degrees Celcius) is extremely suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities.
