The ‘lumbung’ or rice granary is part of Bali’s unique cultural heritage. Traditionally used to store rice under the protection of the goddess Dewi Sri, lumbungs are now seldom used because farming techniques have changed. Several disused lumbungs were discovered averaging 80 years old, and with minor adjustments adapted them into simple but charming accommodation. The cottages are set in the cool mountain air where fans / air-con are unnecessary.

The compound is designed in the traditional Balinese manner modeled on the sacred human form with shrines at the head, guest accommodation at the heart and other facilities at the foot.

Guests enjoy spectacular sunsets and stunning panoramas of the rice fields and coast line in the distance while listening to the calming and peaceful sound of the mini waterfalls which run through the property and around some of the accommodation options. The compound is planted with an array of tropical fruits and herbs which attract multi-coloured butterflies and dragonflies….

I suggest if you are making your own way to Munduk that you arrive a day earlier and pay an extra nights accommodation so you are ready to start the retreat refreshed and rested.

I have been a Yoga student since my early 50’s practicing under Liz’s guidance. Her commitment to the discipline, and the years she has spent studying is truly inspiring! After practicing/attending regular classes with Liz it has inspired me to a higher level in my own life. Liz is a compassionate, caring and disciplined top shelf teacher – not to mention joyful and fun to be with! It doesn’t matter what level or age of the student – she will recognize that in an instant and assist as appropriate, to help all students who walk through her door. I highly recommend any of her Retreats!

Danny Cahill

It is evident through Liz’s teachings that she sees yoga as a way of life not merely a hobby or source of income. Liz has constantly challenged me with my practice while caring for me as a person. Each class is different and Liz creates a safe environment for students to explore and deepen their practice. She has an incredible ability to keep an eye on everyone in the room and tailor poses to individuals needs. I have attended 2 Retreats with Liz and look forward to many more Kylie Betts (Sydney)
